4-H Nova Scotia pauses Camp Rankin in 2024

In the winter of 2023, 4-H Nova Scotia developed an Ad-Hoc Committee to review all aspects of the Camp Rankin Summer Camps and make recommendations to the Board of Directors for a path forward that would provide a safe, educational, and enjoyable summer camping experience.

Their review included trained and knowledgeable camp staff, facility upgrades, and member interest.

As a result of this review, the Board of Directors has accepted the recommendation to pause 4-H Nova Scotia Summer Camps for the Summer of 2024.

4-H Nova Scotia’s Camp Rankin program is one of the sole provincial programs offered to junior members; therefore, in 2024, 4-H Nova Scotia will launch new summer day camp programs in every 4-H region across the province. The traditional programming of Camp Rankin will be incorporated into the day camps to keep the heritage of Camp Rankin alive, and 4-H Nova Scotia is looking forward to the opportunity to increase the accessibility of this program to ensure that more members will benefit.

A working group of community members will be established by March 1 to review the day camp programming. This group will be led by Youth Advisory Committee Member and Board Director, Katie MacNeil. The working group will meet in early April to review the day camp project proposal and programming for launch in July. The members of this working group will be shared on our website under the Committee listings. To express your interest in joining the working group, please contact camprankin@4hnovascotia.ca by February 26, 2024.

Please email camprankin@4hnovascotia.ca directly to express your concerns, share your ideas, and your memories.

Yours in 4-H,

4-H Nova Scotia
