Pets offer a great introduction to livestock projects and they capture the interest of many experienced 4-H members. Cavy is a new project in the 4-H program and there are currently thirteen breeds of Cavy to offer variety in presentation. To meet Achievement Day requirements at Club level, the member must show their registered Cavy in a Showmanship class. When the member moves on to compete at the County level, conformation classes are also held. Working with this popular pet can help members develop their skills in caring for animals.
